West Ontario, Huron and Superior Division. Passenger and Freight propeller "City of London" burned while lying at the wharf at Collin's Inlet, Georgian Bay, on the 20th August, one life was lost, a deck hand, Archibald Campbell. Cause of the fire unknown. Screw tug "Young Lion" burned on her passage from Port Dalhousie to Toronto at 8 a. in., on 22nd of November, when about 10 miles from shore ; the fire was first seen coming out of the forecastle, and in a few minutes, the whole vessel was in flames ; there were four persons on board the vessel, and they had barely time to launch the yawl boat before the lire was upon them ; there was a stiff breeze blowing at the time, and the yawl shipped a good deal of water, but one of the men had fortunately thrown into the boat, one of the metal fire buckets, and with this they kept the water from gaining on them and succeeded in reaching the shore in safety. The steamer "Cumberland" on her first trip from Owen Sound to Collingwood on the 10th of May took fire at the wood work around the boiler smoke pipe.
