Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle

The Dossin Great Lakes Museum is located on Belle Isle, Detroit River and accessed from Detroit, Michigan. Earlier housed in a boat, this permanent building was opened on July 24, 1961. Noted exhibits include a large collection of model ships and the bow anchor of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. (the Fitzgerald had lost the anchor in the Detroit River) The pilot house of the SS William Clay Ford is built into the river side of the museum. The roof of the Ford pilot house includes the Detroit River Watch Webcam, an interactive webcam allowing remote users to watch the river traffic.
