Horse Market. - Mr. John Holmes, Jr., of Onondaga county, is doing a large business in Canada in the purchase of horses for the American market. He is operating principally at Belleville, Napanee and Picton, and is paying for the animals prices ranging from $45 to $80 in Canadian bills or gold.
Last week over three hundred horses were purchased by Mr. H. and his different agents, which have been forwarded to this side. For some days past the steamers of the Lake Ontario Steamboat Company have brought to this port from thirty to forty horses, which have been taken inland.
