Around the Chain of Lakes. The steamboat inspection service on the Great Lakes and other waters controlled by the United States is to be thoroughly investigated by United States naval officers. A decision to this effect was recently reached by Secretary Metcalf of the department of commerce and labor. Assignments have been made for the several districts embracing the lakes and rivers.
