-The Welland Canal - Superintendent dismissed for bad management and replaced.

p.3 brig Lafayette Cook got off Snake Island Shoal.

-Low Water - Lake Ontario is still 15' above low water of 1848.

-new prop. City of Chatham launched, built by Hyslop & Ronald.
