MARINE INTELLIGENCE.

The schooner Nellie Hunter, Oswego, is in port with 365 tons of stove coal for Crawford & Co.

The tug Bronson with four light barges arrived yesterday from Montreal, clearing again this morning for the same port with seven barges grain laden.

The steamer Newaygo, Chicago, arrived last night from Chicago with 42,000 bushels of corn consigned to the M.T. Co. She cleared again today for the same port.

The steamer Bannockburn with consorts Selkirk and Winnipeg, Fort William, arrived in port Saturday with 180,000 bushels of wheat consigned to the M.T. Co. They cleared again this morning for the same port.

It is understood that if the Detroit people get the contract for the building of the R. & O. boats to run between Toronto and Prescott the company will insist that the ships be built at Kingston. In the first place they want Canadian workmen employed, and secondly, to avoid the duty, which will be about thirty-five per cent.

At The Welland Canal.

Port Colborne, July 25th - Passed up - steamers Melbourne, Montreal to Toledo, light; Aragon, Prescott to Cleveland, light. Arrived - steamer A.J. Tymon, Port Stanley to Toronto; steamer Kathadin, Duluth to Prescott, wheat.

The steamer Saturn and W.L. Frost, of the Ogdensburg Transit Co., were caught at Stone Bridge, about a mile from this end of the canal, being compelled to tie up for Sunday, too late to clear the canal before twelve o'clock last night, Sunday locking being strictly prohibited.

A Fast Trip.

The schooner S.H. Dunn, Capt. Dix, Toledo, timber laden, is at Garden Island, getting in yesterday morning. She made a very fast trip, being only two weeks on the round voyage. She ran down from Toledo in three and one-half days. Two weeks and a half for the round trip counted fast time.

The Norma Home - from Cobourg where she won the thirty-two foot class against Hamilton yachts Naida, Alert and Nancy; at start of race she began to leak and had to pump out water during the whole race.
