p.1 Notice Of Application - Montreal Transportation Company proposes to construct a pier within the limits of the harbor of the City of Kingston.

MARINE INTELLIGENCE.

The steamer Persia, bound down, touched at Craig & Co.'s wharf this morning.

The schooner Eliza White is discharging a cargo of coal at James Swift & Co.'s wharf.

The steamer Escanaba, Toledo, is at the M.T. company's anchorage with 40,000 bushels of wheat.

The tugs Thomson and Jessie Hall arrived from Montreal this morning with nine light barges.

The schooner Fabiola, Oswego, arrived last evening with a cargo of coal for James Swift & Co.

The steamer Bannockburn and Rosemount cleared this morning for Chicago to load corn for this port.

The tug Hall left the M.T. company's elevator today with four grain-laden barges bound for Montreal.

The steamer John Ruggee, Chicago, discharged 50,000 bushels of corn at Richardson & Sons' elevator today.

The steamer Kelchern (sic - Ketchum ?) and consort Owen, Chicago, arrived this morning with 120,000 bushels of corn for the M.T. company.

Called at James Swift & Co.'s wharf: steamer Corsican, Toronto to Montreal; steamer Algerian, Montreal to Toronto; steamer Arundell, Charlotte to Alexandria Bay; steamer James Swift, Ottawa.

Welland Canal Report.

Port Colborne, Aug. 9th - Down: steamer Rugee, Chicago to Kingston, wheat; steamer Averell, Chicago to Ogdensburg, general cargo.

p.4 At the Bertram ship yards, Toronto, the barge Hilda, built for the Prescott elevator company, was launched successfully on Tuesday.

p.6 Snips - The steamer Sir L. Tilley, which entered the dry dock here yesterday, will not get out before Sunday next. Her nose is badly broken and a new stern is necessary. It will take some days to remove the damaged portion.

The steamer Cambria was pulled off the mud bank at Presque Isle by the steamer Varuna. She arrived here at four o'clock this morning and cleared again at six for Alexandria Bay.
