p.1 First Wheat From Fort William - Fort William, Sept. 9th - The first shipment of new wheat left here on Saturday, being consigned by J. Richardson & Sons, of Kingston, to Goderich. The steamer Doric had the honor of carrying the shipment, filling one compartment with No. 1 Northern from Manitoba.

IN MARINE CIRCLES

The large boom on the schooner St. Louis, which is discharging coal at the M.T. Co.'s wharf, was smashed on Monday as a result of the schooner jamming the barge Ungava. The wind was very contrary, and as a result the vessel came into the wharf faster than it was expected. The injury to the Ungava was not sufficient to delay her trip on Monday night.

The steamer Sowards, which went aground on Monday, was released and arrived at the asylum wharf on Tuesday morning to discharge her cargo.

M.T. Co.'s wharf: The steamer Turret Chief is discharging a cargo of grain from Duluth; steamer Glenmount passed with steel rails from Sydney to Fort William; steamer Acadian is due on Tuesday from Fort William to discharge grain; steamer Fordonian is due on Thursday from Fort William to discharge grain; the tug Emerson is due this evening from Montreal with five light barges.

The steamer Caspian is laid up for four days at Folger's wharf, but will clear at the end of the week for Charlotte with the usual fall excursion.

The steamer Jeska arrived at Crawford's wharf to discharge a cargo of coal from Sodus.

The schooner Ford River arrived at Richardson's wharf to discharge coal from Charlotte.

The steamer Aberdeen and barge Rob Roy arrived at the C.P.R. wharf to discharge coal.

The steamer Prince Rupert is due down tonight from Duluth, with grain for Montreal.

The steamer Fairfax is at the Locomotive works' wharves, with coal from Erie, Pa.

The steamer Kingston was down and up on Tuesday.

An extensive repair job is being done on the steamer Beaverton in the Shipbuilding company's dock. Quite a number of stays and plates have been taken away to be replaced.

p.7 Incidents of the Day - The steamer Wolfe Islander stopped over at the city wharf all Monday night after it had brought the guests home from the dance held at McLaren's. A stiff north wind was blowing and the waves were beating pretty heavily against the wharf at the island, so the captain decided to remain in a more sheltered spot.
