p.2 Toronto - Maritime Court - A suit has been instituted in the Maritime Court for the recovery of $550 in damages, alleged to have been sustained by the Rothsay on the occasion of the recent collision with the City of Toronto at Niagara. It is understood that $50 was offered and refused.
The amount assessed against the Picton for inflicting damage on the Southern Belle was $485. It has been appealed.
Customs Imports
p.3Wrecking - The tugs H.A. Calvin and Chieftain have been up at Niagara for the purpose of getting the steamer City of Toronto out of her trouble. The Calvin went up first, but was unable to pull the steamer off the ground. The Chieftain was then telegraphed for and went up. A telegram received this morning says: "The tugs H.A. Calvin and Chieftain, of Kingston, succeeded in pulling the steamer City of Toronto off the beach this morning about half-past eight o'clock."
