p.3 The Barge Kitty Friel - The burning of this steambarge, was before the Ottawa Assizes, in the shape of an action brought by Messrs. Rathbun to recover damages for the loss of the cargo from the captain. A verdict was returned for the defendant.

Short Notes - A cargo of "black diamonds" was unloaded from the schooner Foster at Swift's wharf on Saturday night by the aid of the electric (call-see-um) light.

Sailors' wages are now $3 a day out of Chicago.
