A Perilous Passage
p.3 Kingston and Montreal Forwarding Company - The business of the K. & M.F. Co., of which Mr. J.D. Thompson was agent at Montreal, and Mr. W. Stewart at Kingston, has been closed for the season. During the season just closed the Company has transhipped at Kingston about 3,000,000 bushels of grain, besides other business. Large quantities of rails have been carried by the Company, and their barges have been pretty well occupied during the season. As already announced, Mr. Thompson returned to Kingston on Saturday.
Safe Arrival - A despatch received this afternoon announces that Calvin & Breck's ship Garden Island arrived at Cork this morning after a rapid passage.

Detroit, Dec. 3rd - The schr. L.A. Butts, with 40,000 bushels of corn from Chicago for Buffalo, went ashore at Nine Mile Point during a snow storm last night. She is now in twelve feet of water. Crew safe.
Cornwall, Dec. 3rd - The Cornwall Canal closed today....
