The new American steamboat inspection act is causing trouble along the river. The Rothesay recently lost a week by having to be hauled out at Ogdensburg, and the Algerian was detained until she gave bonds that she would be properly inspected. On account of this action the manager of the Richelieu and Ontario company has ordered all the line boats to make the trip by the north shore in future, calling at Rockport and Gananoque, instead of Clayton and Alexandria Bay.
