Kingston Chronicle (Kingston, ON), Dec. 29, 1826

Description
Full Text

p.3 We are happy to learn that His Majesty's Government, with its characteristic liberality, has granted £16,000 sterling, a sum nearly equal to £20,000 currency, to the Welland Canal Company, on the condition that all government boats will be allowed to pass through the canal toll free.

As a proof of the severity of last night's frost, we may mention that, tho' yesterday afternoon boats crossed from Kingston to Long Island, yet this morning, several persons walked over upon the ice.
