p.2 A meeting of the inhabitants of Cobourg took place on Monday, the 3rd of December, when among other Resolutions, it was determined to build a steamboat of three hundred tons burthen, with an engine of ninety horse power, to ply on Lake Ontario from the ports of Cobourg, Gennessee, Prescott, York, and the intermediate ports, the capital stock to amount to £7500, to be divided into three hundred shares of £25 each. No stronger evidence of the rapid prosperity of that part of the Province would be necessary, were it not united with another more substantial proof of the enterprise of Mr. Weller, who has actually concluded a contract for the establishment of a steam carriage to run, as the Cobourg Star expresses it, on the common road between Port Hope and the Carrying Place.
