p.1 Report of Committee on River Trent - report of Committee - they have examined the report and estimates from Engineer.
p.2 Naval Establishment - We lament to hear that the Naval Establishment in this Province is to be totally broken up. Society in Kingston will sustain an irreparable loss by the removal of the gallant Commodore Barrie, with his amiable lady. The poor will lose a kind benefactor, and the deserving a generous patron. His heart was ever prompt, and his purse ever open for acts of benevolence, and however far he may be removed from us, let him be assured his memory will long flourish green and fresh in the hearts of all here who have known and appreciated his surpassing worth. [Toronto (York) Patriot]
We are requested to state that the Steamer Britannia will leave this port for the head of the Bay of Quinte on Wednesday next at 8 o'clock A.M. precisely.
The navigation, we believe, is now fairly open, and as a consequence, the bustle increases about the wharves. The Oswego packet, Llewellyn, arrived on Wednesday, and since, several other craft. All is industry on board the steamboats in port, which may be expected to commence their trips for the season next week.
