- A photograph of the two-masted schooner ARIEL of Port Hope lying alongside a wharf. In the centre of the picture a tug tows a string of barges out into the lake. The right side of the channel is lit by two range lights.
- The ARIEL of Port Hope was built at Quebec in 1867 and taken off the registry in 1907. The identification of the harbour as possibly
Goderich, Ontario is still speculative but is supported by the pier configuration and the fact that she was sold to Goderich interests in the 1880s.
