Milan, March 12. - One of the most successful launches of a vessel ever witnessed in this vicinity took place at the ship-yard of Valentine Fries, Esq., on the 9th inst. The yard is located on the Huron River, between Milan and Huron. The following are the dimensions of the vessel, to-wit: Length of keel, 225 feet; over-all, 235 feet; beam 36 feet; depth of hold 15-1/2 feet, and was built by Mr. Fries for himself, and in his usual good style and finish. The building and launching was under the immediate supervision of Mr. Fries, and when she struck the water she displayed the flag bearing the name of his old friend, the Hon. Charles Foster, our worthy M. C. from this district.

Yesterday a very fine three masted schooner, CHARLES FOSTER, of 900 tons burthen, came in from Milan, where she has been two years building. She is owned and was built by V. Fries, of Watertown, whose land supplied the timber, and whose enterprise has constructed one of the most complete and substantial vessels put afloat on the lakes. Her keel is 225 feet and other measurements in proportion.
