Full Text

WHIRLWIND ON THE LAKES.--Yesterday afternoon, as the CHESAPEAKE was ploughing her way through the lake, some few miles off Ashtabula, she was struck suddenly by a whirlwind from the northwest, which swept both smoke pipes, and the iron chains which secured them even with the deck. The gust came unattended by the usual signs, and was altogether inexplicable. Buffalo Commercial, Oct.20.
