XXVII - NO. 7 MEETINGS Saturday, May 20th - Annual Dinner Meeting. * * * * * * * APRIL 1995 Please see below for details. THE EDITOR'S NOTEBOOK We had a large group in attendance for the March meeting, and all enjoyed the programme put on by Capt. Alain M. Gindroz, who took us to a wide v a riety of lake and river ports which he has visited aboard the various lakers in which he has served. We were pleased that Alain could be with us and bring so many of his excellent photos, and that we, in turn, could help him celebrate his new position as a canal pilot. We hope that he will show us more of his camera work at another meeting in the future. The Annual Dinner Meeting will be held Saturday, May 20th, aboard JADRAN, which is moored on the east side of the Yonge Street slip on the Toronto waterfront. Parking is available in two lots just east of the ship, and public transit is available via the Bay bus or the Harbourfront streetcar from Union Station. The bar will open at 6: 00 p. m. and dinner will be served at 7: 00. Our speaker will be Lorne Joyce and his programme will be "The Main Ducks". This will be a look at yesterday's life on the iso lated mid-lake islands at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, from ship wrecks to lighthouse building and from harbours to fisheries. Members and guests alike should enjoy this presentation. We have managed to hold the line on costs, so tickets will again cost just $29. 00, which is a great bargain because it includes all tax and gratuity. As usual, guests will be welcomed.
