XXVIII NO. 8 MEETINGS MAY 1996 The May 11th Dinner Meeting will be our last regular membership meeting until we reconvene on Friday, October 4th for the opening of our 1996-1997 season. Please watch the Mid-Summer issue of "Scanner" for meeting details. * * * * * THE EDITOR'S LOGBOOK Roger Chapman presented his illustrated programme on the development of Hamilton Harbour at our April Meeting, and the presentation was enjoyed by the large crowd in attendance. We thank Roger for the work he put into the preparation of this most interesting programme and we hope that he will tell us more about Hamilton shipping at a later date. With this issue in the hands of the members, your Editor begins his annual summer respite from the typewriter. Your next issue, "Mid-Summer", will be coming to you during August, so please be patient and wait to hear from us then. We will have an interesting issue for your mid-summer enjoyment. Meanwhile, we look forward to hearing from our regular correspondents during the summer months so that we may keep up to date on items of marine news for the benefit of the members. In the New Member D e p a rtm en t, a hearty welcome goes out to John G. Perrin, of Prescott, Ontario. We are a bit tardy in welcoming him to the Society because his subscription letter took over four months to reach us in the mail!
