Ashland: No lay-ups. * * * It will be noted that we do not have reports for several ports - and thus there are a few ships that do not appear anywhere in this listing. That is because nobody has sent us any information from those areas. Notable amongst the missing are the ports of the Welland Canal, Buffalo, and assorted other ports from both sides of Lake Erie. We would very much like to be able to provide the necessary additional listings in the March issue, but we can only do it if somebody will provide us with the information. We could have delayed printing any of the lay-up reports until the March is sue, but we know that most of our readers would like to have the information available before the ships have fitted out and sailed to begin the new sea son! In the meantime, we would like to extend our most sincere thanks to the following members who have contributed to this report: Neil Bauman, Terry Beahen, Rene Beauchamp, Ken Davis, Marc Dease, Donald Dube, Christopher Dunn, Ken Hillyer, Gerald Hutton, Brad Jolliffe, Ron Konkol, Andy LaBorde, George Lee, Buck Longhurst, Bob MacDonald, Mac Mackay, Alan Mann, Howard Miller, Gene Onchulenko, Gerry Ouderkirk, Carmen Paris, Leslie Reading, Greg Rudnick, Terry Sechen, Vern Sweeting, Ronald Webb, Duncan White and George Williams. * * * And to close, here is one additional listing received just at press time: Sarnia: To earlier list, add JOHN B. AIRD (arrived January 30th) and delete JOHN SPENCE and McASPHALT 401, which returned to service. * * * * * DUGLAS KENNARD It is with regret that we record the passing, on November 12, 1996, of longtime T. M. H. S. member Duglas Kennard, of Toronto. Doug had sailed with Upper Lakes Shipping from 1966 until his retirement in 1991. He attended almost every T. M. H. S. meeting that he could when he was ashore, and he was our chief "light man", tending the switches at our slide shows. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Rose, and the family. * * * * * To close this issue, we would like to remind our members to mark Saturday, May 10th on their calendars for the Annual Dinner Meeting. Watch the March issue for full details and plan to attend what promises to be a most enjoy able event. * * * * *
