M. H. S. members Gene Onchulenko and Skip Gillham. We thought we had more room available than proved to be the case, and unfortunately our review turned out to be far more brief than we had intended. Our apologies to the authors. The individual Paterson ship histories provide a valuable record, but the book's greatest value, in our opinion, lies in the large number of well re produced and, in some cases, very rare photos. The inside photos are in black-and-white, but the covers are in colour; PATERSON (II) is on the front cover, while the back features a stunning overhead view of the handsome ONTADOC (I). The book is available at the usual marine bookstores, or address Riverbank Traders, 57 Main Street, St. Catharines, Ontario L2N 4T8 - phone (905) 934- 3634. Cost is Can $21. 95 or U. S. $19. 95 plus $3. 50 postage and handling. * * * * * SeaFare T. M. H. S. Executive Committee member Gordon Turner is a person of many ta lents. He served for many years as this Society's programme chairman and he is now in charge of making sure each issue of "Scanner" reaches you via the mails. He is an excellent photographer and has written a number of articles for various marine publications, as well as a most impressive book on the famous Canadian Pacific liner EMPRESS OF BRITAIN (II). He may now add "editor" to his list of accomplishments. Gordon is editor of "SeaFare", a new quarterly newsletter on sea travel. The first issue appeared recently and we are impressed. Twelve pages with a four-page advertising insert, it provides information about passenger travel in these changing times, as well as details concerning passenger vessels, past, present and future. And, yes, there are pictures! Annual subscription rates are $19. 95 in Canada, and $21. 95 in Canadian funds to the U. S. Address "SeaFare" at P. O. Box 62010, Victoria Terrace Post Of fice, North York, Ontario M4A 2W1. Phone: (416) 444-2545. Fax: (416) 762 -- 1355. * * * * * To close out this issue, we remind members of the Annual Dinner Meeting scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.
