We hope that you will enjoy your membership in the Toronto Marine Historical Society. * * * * * * * BACK ISSUES OF "SCANNER" From time to time we receive enquiries about the availability of back issues of "Scanner". We are pleased to announce that we now have for sale a number of complete sets of Volumes I through XXXIII. Each set contains nine issues, except for Volume I which has ten. Apart from the very early issues, most are in the same general format as today's "Scanner". Sets run from October of one year to Mid-Summer of the next. Some of the issues have been "pre­ owned" and may show signs of use, although all are quite acceptable. We anticipate a high demand, especially for the older volumes of which very few are in stock. If requests for a particular volume exceed the supply, we will hold a draw to ensure fairness. Price per volume is $15. 00 and postage is additional. At a later date, we hope to make individual issues available, but please do not enquire until we make an announcement in that regard. * * * * * HALL CORPORATION TANKERS OF THE GREAT LAKES The latest publication from member Skip Gillham is a 48-page booklet giving the individual histories of the various tanker operated by the Hall Corpora­ tion from 1957 until 1986. There are 94 interesting photos and colour co­ vers. The booklet sells for $16. 00 and is available from Skip at P. O. Box 443, Vineland, Ontario LOR 2C0. * * * * * ST. HELIERS REVISITED Our Ship of the Month No. 268 in the March issue was the Canadian government lighthouse tender ST. HELIERS. We had most of her life pretty well pegged down, but noted that there was a divergence of opinion as to whether her 1930 lengthening and rebuild was done at Saint John, New Brunswick, or at Sorel, Quebec. It turns out that both are correct! The lengthening was done at Saint John, where her new hull section was assigned Hull No. 9. She then was taken to Sorel where the cabin work, etc., was done. She had been offer­ ed to the government by the private interests who brought her to Canada, but we do not know who those interests were. We also know that her very first port of registry was London, England, where she was given official number (Br. ) 143436, that number being reactivated when she was sold Canadian.
