MARICOPA REVISITED Our Ship of the Month No. 307 in the May issue was ALTADOC (ii), which started her life in 1896 as (a) MARICOPA for the Minnesota Steamship Company. Because of space limitations on our photopage, we did not show her in her original colours. But now, courtesy of member Ralph Roberts, we have two early photos of her that we cannot resist sharing with you all. The upper photo shows her on the ways of the Chicago Shipbuilding Company just prior to her launch on July 2, 1896. The lower image shows her at the shipyard's fit-out berth just before she went into service. We hope you like these - our summer version of Great Lake Memories. And yes, we will have more on YUKONDOC/GEORGIAN in a future issue! * * * * * * * And please remember that there will be no October issue. We will be back in your mailbox in November. Have a happy autumn! * * * * * * *
