Storm's Work

The heavy seas of the last storm have completely wrecked the schooner Rosa Sonsmith, which went on the beach a few days ago. The vessel was in an exposed position and the only remaining mast disappeared yesterday. The only sign of the boat is a pile of wreckage on the beach. The cargo also is a total loss. It consisted of iron ore from Escanaba.

The steamer Masaba reach Milwaukee yesterday having 30 feet of bulwarks on each side washed away. The break is amidships. The steamer came to anchor under the breakwater early yesterday morning, but was unable to enter the harbor until this afternoon. She will not make repairs until winter.

The steamer City of Glasgow ran into Alpena to land Patrick Whalen, a sailor, who had his leg broken by being hurled across the steamer's deck by a huge wave which boarded the boat.
