The brig New York, Capt. Whittier, bound down with a cargo of timber, when off Long Point, was struck by a squall last night, which carried away her fore-top-mast, fore-yard and sail, sprung her main-mast, split her main-sail, and did some other damage. She was bound for French Creek, but being thus crippled, and the wind blowing from the North-west, she made this port at about one o'clock this afternoon.
