NOTE The ONEIDA was Got off from this stranding but went aground at Chicago on or about Nov. 10, 1847

The EMPIRE returned from the ONEIDA Tuesday night with a scow load of her cargo. She reports the ONEIDA as having about two feet of water in her. The steamer TROWBRIDGE, with a scow and a gang of hands, was despatched to the assistance of the ONEIDA yesterday morning. As the weather continues favorable, strong hopes are entertained that she will be got off. The cargo is considerably damaged.
