Brig HELFENSTEIN, disabled, lost anchors at Milwaukee, struck the beach, got off, run for Chicago, got inside and sunk. Property loss $3,600.

The late violent storm did some considerable damage to our lake marine. The brig HELFENSTEIN, while lying at anchor in Milwaukee Bay on the 1st inst. parted her cables, lost her fore-topmast and top-gallant-mast and struck on a ledge of rocks, causing her to leak badly. She however started for this port, and the officers of the U.S. Steamer MICHIGAN, hearing of her condition went to her relief and towed her into this port. She soon after sunk in twelve feet water, near the south pier. The HELFENSTEIN was laden with railroad iron, powder and lime. - Chicago Argus.
