PREBLE Brig. cut away foremast &c., off Chicago. Property loss $1,100
      Buffalo Commercial Advertiser
      Jan. 28, 1858 (1857 Casualty List)



      The brig PREBLE, of Milwaukee, in rounding the pier, drifted southward, and lost her jib-boom; while to keep her from drifting on the breakwater, off Van Buren street, her foremast was cut away. Capt. Averill went out with the LEVIATHAN, and towed her in. -- Chicago Press, 17th.
