About 10 o'clock Tuesday morning a small fire occurred in the engine room of the steamer CITY OF ROME, lying at the foot of Washington Street. A gallon of "black" oil, which had been drawn for cleaning the boiler, caught fire from the contact of it's gas with the flame of a lamp, The crew, with the use of the pony pump, extinguished the fire. Beyond a scorching to the adjoining woodwork, no damage was done. -- Buffalo Report.
