The Chicago Tribune of the 13th. says:---"The propeller PETREL arrived last night from Detroit. When about six miles from Chicago, she came in collision with the schooner OUTWARD BOUND, but no damage was sustained by either."
      Buffalo Daily Republic
      April 20, 1849


NOTE:-- "no damage sustained by either" The OUTWARD BOUND foundered will all
on board four days later, in a storm off the Manitou Islands. ??
