STRUCK A CAKE OF ICE.
The tug GEE, while towing the schooner ABBIE L. ANDREWS down the river yesterday, struck a large cake of ice, bringing her to a sudden stop. The schooner's jibboom struck the tug, carrying away her smoke stack, whistle, exhaust pipe and skylight. The pilot house of the tug was also struck and moved several inches forward. The tug INTERNATIONAL came to their assistance and towed the ANDREWS to Ryan' elevator, and the GEE returned to the foot of Main Street.
