At midnight the steamer ADVANCE of Toronto caught fire under her boiler and burned to the water's edge at the new Ontario dock in the Canadian Soo. The steamer was loaded with general merchandise.

The propeller ADVANCE, on a trip from Montreal to Fort William with merchandise was towed to Sault Ste. Marie Sunday night a mass of flames. The Revenue cutter MORRELL and a number of tugs put out the fire, but the boat will be a total loss. She was insured.

The Montreal Transportation Company has bought the hull and machinery of the steamer ADVANCE, which was burned in the Soo River last year. What remains of the boat is being taken to Kingston to be rebuilt.

The Hull of the steamer Advance has been towed from Collingwood to Montreal by the new steam tug Emmerson. The Advance will be rebuilt at Montreal.
