A SCHOONER ASHORE.
GRAIN LADEN BOAT WRECKED AT THE FOOT OF GEORGIA STREET.
A large boat, supposed to be the schooner AMBOY, grain laden, was washed ashore at the foot of Genesee street at 3:20 this afternoon.
The waves were washing over it and it is likely to be greatly damaged. She was blown down the lake, and in spite of all efforts to get her into harbor, was washed ashore.
The AMBOY was in consort of the steamer HELENA. She broke away in the gale.
3:40 P.M. - The Life Saving men are working to take the crew off the AMBOY. The boat is hard aground and likely to pound to pieces. No tugs can get near her.

      THE SCHOONER AMBOY ASHORE.
She Pounded On The Rocks At The Foot Of Genesee Street, A Tug Pulled Her Off
      ---
At one time yesterday afternoon it looked as if the three-masted schooner AMBOY, the consort of the steamer HELENA, would pound to pieces on the rocks at the foot of Georgia street.
Both vessels struck Buffalo shortly before 3 P. M. The HELENA dropped the AMBOY at the entrance to the harbor and left that boat to be taken care of by the tugs.
The wind was blowing 60 miles an hour. The tugs made an effort to get a line from the AMBOY, but did not succeed. The boat drifted away rapidly and struck on the rocks near Genesee street.
She pounded heavily and the heavy seas dashed over the boat. The tug CASCADE went to the assistance of the schooner and pulled her off after half an hour's hard work. The AMBOY is quite badly injured.
